theJLM is the A/V producer and artist identity of theJLM, once a drummer in multiple Brooklyn indie/post-punk bands, such as Coyote Eyes and Man In Gray, and also the founder and curator of Bushwick DIY venue Fort Useless. It was during those very loud times in life that he began listening to the synthy sounds of multiple waves (dark, chill, retro, vapor, etc) to help soothe his ears after long noisy nights at shows. Also back then, he began producing danceable electronic cover songs for various friends' birthdays – you know, just for fun.

Some years later, during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, he began writing lyrics as a means of processing both what was happening in the wider world and what was happening closer to home. With one particular set of lyrics, he organized a collaborative songwriting project where several musician friends all composed their own music to produce several very different songs featuring the same set of words. His contribution to the project became the first public outing of theJLM persona he'd used for his previously private electronic productions. Since then, he's been producing an assortment of originals, covers, and remixes – finally culminating in [redacted/coming relatively soon], his first official solo release.
